It is the year 2672, a time of war on a galactic scale. The mighty battlefleets of the United Colonies of Mankind are ranged against those of the alien Scourge, vile overlords of humanity’s once great homelands – the seven Cradle Worlds and Earth itself. The Colonies are on the offensive, the will of an entire species bent on vengeance. This grand endeavor is known as the Reconquest; the greatest military enterprise in the history of mankind. Thousands of ships and millions of soldiers battle for victory in the void and on land.
The bane of all gamers is getting there lovely crafted and painted miniatures to where they need to be, wether its a friends house and FLG or a major tournament.
This is my stab at doing what Mark does far better and you will also have seen the rest of us are doing as well. Our little round up of what we currently have going on our painting desk, gaming tables over the past month.
Most people will know form the sort of games I tend to review that I really do like the less popular games. It’s not that I don’t like some of the popular games it’s just that the fun ones are often by smaller companies.
When I was waiting for my order for Dropfleet commander one of the fun things was to look at what else I was going to need. I knew pretty early on I was going to need a new gaming mat. I have a few star maps but as Dropfleet is all about grabbing land masses I needed something new. I had a look around the Facebook group and to be honest the ideas were all the same, either big land masses or mats that looked like Mars. The selection didn’t really grab me at all.
I was more than a little surprised after my last article on Trees was so popular. If you’ve not had a look at the article you can find it here.
When I was asking the team about what I should do next, Darren was pretty keen thet I do one on Asteroids. I think he has some other project in mind that he’s after tips for. Though as I have the Dropfleet Commander Kickstarter about to arrive soon I thought why not.
A lot of the terrain projects I do are very simple. My hope is to get the terrain in a usable state on the table in a decent amount of time. There are certain projects I spend a lot of time on, but most can be done in a few hours.

One of my favourite games of the last few years has been Dropzone Commander this game is pretty straight forward to play, easy to get into and the starter sets for all Armies are nicely balanced whi you start adding them up, and with a faction for everybody.
So to reboot my playing time with DZC I am talking a look at the races available starting with the Scourge.
